In yet another incident of crime against women, a 30-year-old woman was allegedly abducted, gang-raped and robbed by two men in Greater Noida between late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, reported India Today.
On the night of November 14, the woman took a taxi near Hauz Khas to go to Rohini. According to reports, the driver allowed another man to board the taxi near Dhaula Kuan, and then drove off to an isolated area near Pari Chowk in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The woman said she somehow managed to reach her home in Rohini at 5 am on Wednesday, and informed her family about the shocking incident.
Since the woman was allegedly picked up from Hauz Khas, a case was registered in Delhi on Thursday.
Chinmoy Biswal, Additional DCP (south), told Hindustan Times:
“The woman approached us today (Thursday). A case of gang rape and robbery has been registered at the Hauz Khas police station and efforts initiated to identify the suspects.”
According to India Today, the two men also made a video recording of the rape and threatened to make the footage public if she approached the police. Police said that no breakthrough in the case was made until Thursday evening.
A recent study found that New Delhi is the world’s worst megacity for sexual violence and harassment faced by women.
The national capital continues to live up to that dubious distinction, with cases of rape, molestation, sexual harassment against women being reported almost every day.
