After multiple reports that the actor had been removed from the post, the Ministry of Tourism has refuted them and said that Aamir Khan is still the brand ambassador of the ‘Incredible India’ campaign.
Reports had cited sources who said that Khan has been removed as brand ambassador of the campaign. Coming after the actor’s comments on intolerance sparked controversy, many saw it as a sign that the government had retaliated by dropping him as brand ambassador of the campaign.
It didn’t help that BJP leader Amit Malviya who is the National Head of Informational Technology and Digital Communication) had tweeted confirming the ouster of the actor from the position.
So there were some who mocked the decision:
Aamir Khan removed as brand ambassador of Incredible India. At last, something for poor doctors to cheer about.
