With the onion prices skyrocketing in India (Rs 150 per kg atm) it was a topic of heated debate at the Lok Sabha. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman responded to a question by Supriya Sule saying that onions aren't even a part of her staple diet and can be made do without.

I don't eat a lot of onions and garlic, so don't worry. I come from a family that doesn't care much about onions and garlic.

This statement has sparked outrage on Twitter and #SayItLikeNirmalaTai is trending.

BRB going to go buy a safe for my onions.
