From the comforting cushions in Poes Garden to a 10 X 8 gloomy cell, Sasikala’s journey from ‘Chinamma’ to Kaidi number 9234 is far from a fairy tale.

VK Sasikala entered her cell in Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru on Wednesday. According to reports, Sasikala requested that she be given a class 1 cell.

She demanded that she be served home-cooked and non-vegetarian meals twice a week, strictly mineral water and a separate toilet. She also requested that she should be given additional space for meditation.

However, the jail authorities denied her requests, reports NDTV.

Even before entering the prison premises, when the Police asked her to sit in the police jeep, she refused saying that she can walk any distance but will not sit in the jeep like a petty criminal, reports Bangalore Mirror.

The report further states that she didn’t sleep the first night in her cell. While she is sharing her cell with her sister-in-law Elavarasi, she spoke little with her and didn’t ask what’s in the news either.

Notably, when Sasikala was given a white saree, she refused to wear it saying that she didn’t have a white blouse.

NDTV says ‘Chinamma’ was restless in the night as she had to sleep on the floor in an ordinary cell while her request for a mattress was also denied.

In the neighbouring cell of Sasikala resides Cyanide Mallika, a woman charged with murdering five women in Bengaluru. Posing as a pious lady acquainted with religious rituals, Mallika used to befriend well-to-do women devotees frequenting the temples and gain their confidence by recommending rituals to overcome their bad times.

She would suggest that the rituals be done by her at a temple, chosen with care to ensure that it was far from the victim’s place. She would later mix cyanide in their food and then decamp with their valuables. Bangalore Mirror reports that Mallika tried to strike a conversation with Sasikala, but the latter refused to react.
