Tamil Nadu CM and AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa passed away late night on Monday in Apollo Hospital in Chennai.
She had been on life support since Sunday morning when she suffered a cardiac arrest. Jayalalithaa had been in the hospital since September 22 and the news of her demise comes just days after party sources said that her health was improving.

Amma loyalists and supporters have been thronging the hospital in Chennai since news of her being critical was first confirmed last night, with hysteria increasing as supporters wailed and lamented about Amma’s ill health.
News of her death spread quickly through Twitter, and the microblogging site, (Jayalalithaa had been trending all day) was instantly full of condolences from all corners of the country.
