Google paid tribute to legendary Bollywood composer RD Burman on his 77th birth anniversary with one of its famous doodles.

Burman, who was popularly called Pancham Da, was born on June 27, 1939 to music composer SD Burman and his wife Meera.

Pancham Da is known for infusing western-styled disco and jazz music into Bollywood songs.

He composed music for more than 330 movies including Sholay, Yaadon ki Baraat and Masoom.

He began his career by assisting his father on films like Guide. His first solo job was the 1961 movie Chhote Nawab, though his first hit is often credited to be Teesri Manzil (1966) which starred Shammi Kapoor and Asha Parekh.

Several of RD Burman’s greatest hits were sung by his wife Asha Bhosle and his friend Kishore Kumar.

Some of his well known tracks include Yeh Shaam Mastani, Yeh Jo Mohabbat Ha , Chura Liya Hai Tumne, Dilbar Mere Kab Tak Mujhe, Mere Samne Wali Khidki Mein, Musafir Hoon Yaron , Dum Maro Dum, Piya Tu, Aaja Aaja Main Hoon Pyaar and O Haseena Zulfonwaali.

RD Burman passed away at the age of 54 on January 4, 1994 leaving behind a genre of music that would be enjoyed by many generations to come.
