Remember Josh Herdman, perhaps better known for playing the character of Gregory Goyle, who was Draco Malfoy’s sidekick, trusted lieutenant and nervous lackey, in all the Harry Potter series? He has now taken a break from acting and landed himself in a pretty amazing career – MMA fighting.

He made his amateur debut as an MMA fighter and beat his Polish opponent Janusz Walachowski at the City Pavillion in Romford, east London.

The actor has been training in traditional Japanese jujitsu for nearly five years now and holds a shodan black belt. *jaws dropped*

“It’s raw, exciting and unpredictable. I find it more interesting than boxing although I appreciate the beauty and art in boxing. It also made sense to move onto MMA because of my jujitsu training,” he told The Mirror.

Don’t break your hearts, he will continue with his career in acting.

“I haven’t fallen out of love with it, I still have an agent and still go for auditions. It’s just a little bit like playing the lottery for a living,” he told The Mirror.

As he told The Mirror, “I don’t see it so much as a career change, I am passionate about both acting and fighting.”

“Lottery for a living”, sounds perfectly good to us, Josh! Also, who’d have thought!
