In a first for India, Bhopal’s Habibganj station is set to be built in a public-private partnership (PPP). Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will launch the station development work on June 9.
According to Mint, the operation and maintenance work have been given to Bhopal-based Bansal group. The group plans to invest Rs 100 crore in overhauling the station.
Here’s a look at the facilities this station will have:
- The station will be remodeled and designed as a world-class transit hub with a shopping complex, eateries, a multi-specialty hospital, a five-star hotel and well maintained waiting lounge.
- The station will be powered by solar energy and it will have facilities for differently-abled people.
- The station will be equipped with lifts and escalators and will have parking space for over 300 cars and 850 two-wheelers.
