The Hurun Global Rich List India is out and it’s pretty interesting.

No surprises for the top slot because Mukesh Ambani continues to be the richest Indian billionaire with a net worth of Rs. 175,400 crore. But thanks to demonetisation, the overall billionaire figure has taken a hit.

While India had the third largest number of billionaires in the world last year, it has dropped to 4th position with 100 billionaires, 11 down from last year. Simply out, India has 11 less billionaires in 2017 than last year.

The total combined wealth of Indian billionaires has decreased by 1% to US$304bn.

There were 27 new entrants in the list this year, including PayTM’s Vijay Shekhar Sharma and Directi’s Divyank Turakhia, who also happens to the be the youngest Indian billionaire, worth $1.2 billion.

E-commerce poster boys Sachin and Binny Bansal are no longer part of the billionaires list.
