Over 2 million people are out on the streets of Hong Kong as we speak. They’re protesting against a controversial extradition bill and people all over Hong Kong have been contributing to the peaceful demonstration.

Amidst the unrest, a helping hand (no pun intended) comes from porn sites in Hong Kong.
In order to make more people participate in the protest, several porn websites have temporarily shut down.

Porn companies in Hong Kong closed yesterday to ensure that as many people as possible went out in the streets to protests the new law that will allow Hong Kong residents to be ‘extradited’ to mainland China. If only more people cared about #democracy that much. #HongKongProtest

One website, ThisAV, even sassed the public into joining the protest by saying,
Go out and protest the bill which is a matter of life and death instead of just sitting here and jacking off.
It’s happened. A #HongKong porn site is urging users to suspend activities to march against #ExtraditionBill “not because we have hope, not cos we think numbers=success, but because we need to come out even if we fail” #NoExtraditionToChina #反送中 pic.twitter.com/Fdo9UfebfA

Hong Kong shut down porn sites to encourage more people to get out and protest. THATS how you know a country is serious about their cause.

Most adult websites have now resumed services, but certain politically driven ones like AV01 still display bold statements that translate to:
If you’re a Hong Kong police officer, relative, or supporter, please leave this site.
This is not the first time every industry in this country stood together in solidarity in support of a cause. But it is heartening to see the power of the public when everyone joins hands.
It’s hard for people now to imagine what it was like in #HongKong in 1989, the strength and comprehensiveness of support, the intensity of emotion. Even the city’s soft-core porn mag put its support on the cover and donated all proceeds to #Tiananmen students pic.twitter.com/KpmArPG5yz

More power to the people of Hong Kong!
Thanks to these responsible porn websites, democracy is still standing (no pun intended).
