Race walker, Irfan KT became the first Indian athlete to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

According to a report by TOI, he qualified for the next year’s Olympics after finishing fourth at the Asian Race Walking Championship in Nomi on Sunday.
29-year-old Irfan from Kerala, clocked 1 hour 20 minutes and 57 seconds to beat the Tokyo Olympics qualification standard of 1 hour 21 minutes.

So far, no other Indian has qualified for the 2020 Olympics from athletics.
Irfan also holds a national record of 1:20:21 when he finished 10th in the 2012 Olympics.
