Four years after Dr Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur were convicted by a CBI court in connection with Aarushi Hemraj murder case, Allahabad High Court on Thursday acquitted the dentist couple. The court said that there was no chain of evidence and the couple can’t be convicted on the basis of mere suspicion.

The verdict was welcomed by the counsel representing the Talwars.

“We are more than pleased with the verdict. It has been a long battle. A big monkey is off our back,” advocate Dhruv Gupta told ScoopWhoop News.

The couple, who were serving a life sentence in the Dasna Jail after a CBI court convicted them in 2013, have been given the benefit of doubt in the case.

“Some technical procedures are due and it will take a day or two. Hopefully, Talwars will walk out of jail by day after tomorrow,” he added.

Meanwhile, CBI has decided to move court against the Allahabad High Court verdict.

In May 2008, 14-year-old Aarushi and her domestic help Hemraj were found murdered in their home. The twin murders went on to become of the most sensational crime cases in the recent times.
