Looks like the National Award-winning director, Ketan Mehta, is in no mood to spare actress Kangana Ranaut for allegedly ‘hijacking’ the biopic based on the life of the queen of Jhansi, Lakshmibai.
According to a report filed by the Mumbai Mirror, the filmmaker has approached the Economic Offences Wing three weeks after sending a legal notice to the actress.
A senior EOW officer has been quoted as saying that an FIR will be registered only after a thorough investigation.
“Ketan Mehta has submitted a written complaint, seeking an FIR into the matter. A probe is on and Kangana Ranaut will be summoned to record her version”
The complaint filed by Mehta reportedly says that he has suffered a loss of at least Rs 9 crore because Ranaut hijacked his project. It further states that the actress had started shooting for his project before leaving it abruptly.
Ketan had sent a legal notice to Kangana soon after she announced a film titled Manikarnika – the Queen of Jhansi with director Krish.
As per earlier reports, Mehta had claimed to have approached Kangana in June 2015 to play the role of Rani Lakshmi Bai. Only after she committed to the film, the director said that he shared research material and several drafts of the script with Kangana for the project.
The allegations made by the director were, however, denied in an official statement released by the 30-year-old-actress.
