Monkey menace is at an all time high with even cricket facing the brunt. Kanpur district administration has hired langurs to control simian problem at the Green Park Stadium, which will stage the first ODI between India and South Africa on October 11.

“The administration has employed two langurs to scare away the monkeys,” ADM City, Avinash Singh, told Hindustan Times .

To ensure their effectiveness, the langurs will be staying at the venue from Sunday. They were even taken to the points from where the monkeys enter the stadium. One of the owners said regular patrolling by the langurs would act as a deterrent. The langurs will be making a neat sum of Rs 5,000 each.

Let’s hope after all the preparation put in by the stadium authorities the cricket teams are able to provide a better show than the one off field.
