On the day of the canonisation ceremony of Mother Teresa, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, along with some delegates, sang Rabindra Sangeet on the way to St Peter’s Basilica, where Mother Teresa was conferred sainthood on Sunday at Vatican City.

She took to Facebook to say that she was immensely blessed to be the part of the ceremony.

“Team Bengal walked all the way from the hotel with songs on our lips and I was ushered in the venue in a very special way by Sister Prema, Head of the Missionaries of Charity and I was seated with them,” she wrote.

Banerjee led a 12-member official delegation to the Vatican as a guest of the Missionaries. The Chief Minister and her delegates including MPs Sudip Bandopadhyay and Derek O’Brien walked to the venue of the canonisation ceremony by singing songs of Rabindranath Tagore.
