A man cancelled his wedding allegedly due to non-payment of Rs 2 lakh as dowry by the other party, following which the girl’s brother has filed a case against him, police said.The main accused, Puspendra, and his family demanded Rs 2 lakh as dowry from Sanjeev Kumar, who had fixed his sister’s marriage with him, they said.

Kumar registered a case against the accused and his family under the Dowry Act for refusing to marry on the basis of non-payment of dowry. Following this, police lodged an FIR in the matter on Saturday, Station officer, Kotwali city, Ghanshyam Singh said.The marriage was fixed on November 25, he added.No arrests have been made so far in this connection, police said.
