Matheran, a small hill station in Maharashtra was declared the wettest place in the country after it received a total of 450mm rainfall from Friday (26th July) for 24 hours, continuously, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Matheran is a secluded hill station that offers stunning views of the Western Ghats. It also gives you an opportunity to relax and enjoy some quiet time, away from the busy city life.
Matheran, without a doubt, transforms into a heavenly locale during monsoons as the view it offers is worth dying for. But since the downpour has been never-ending, the state government has warned people to be cautious.
It is still the wettest place in the country.
