An unidentified man was lynched to death in north-east Delhi’s Khajoori Khas area following rumours that he was trying to kidnap a minor girl. 

The incident took place on Friday afternoon when angry locals gathered near E-block of Khajoori Khas area and ruthlessly assaulted the unidentified man. 

According to police, the man was badly injured when they were informed of the incident and reached the spot. While the victim was taken to hospital, he succumbed to his injuries during the treatment.

CCTV footage showed police personnel taking the body of assaulted man to the hospital. 

Hindustan Times reported that the crowd kept beating the man even while he pleaded innocence. 

The newspaper also quoted a police official saying that none of the members in the angry crowd had seen the victim kidnapping the girl. It also said that the girl’s mother also denied that the deceased man made any attempt to kidnap her daughter.  

“His identity is still unknown. The post-mortem will be conducted today,” an official of Khajoori Khas police station told ScoopWhoop.

Meanwhile, police has registered an FIR against unknown persons in the incident.
