It is raining all kinds of trouble for Mumbaikars. The onset of monsoon in the metropolis brings life to a standstill.Incessant rain in the past 24 hours hails the annual flooding of roads. Average rainfall of 188mm has been recorded in South Mumbai and 172 mm in Western suburbs.Obviously, Twitter went berserk:
Mumbaikars have been advised by Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to stay indoors and travel only in case of an emergency. The continuous rainfall in the city and the forecast of intermittent rain in the next 24 hours has led BMC to cancel all municipality-run schools for the day.
Even Bollywood actors posted pictures while trudging through water-filled streets of Mumbai.
Suburban services on all the three railway lines of Central railway (CR) and Western railway (WR) in Mumbai have been suspended due to heavy rainfall.
Water-logging adversely affected many areas including Lower parel, Andheri and Churchgate.
Public transport was shut down completely in many places.
According to the disaster management cell, the high tide between 1:30am and 3:00am, accompanied by heavy rainfall, caused water-logging.
