Baba Vanga, a blind Bulgarian seer is now the hottest thing on the block with her supporters claiming that she’s been right on a variety of subjects ranging from the 9/11 attacks to the rise of Islamic State.

Is she related to the many Indian babas?

None that has been exposed so far. Baba Vanga, as per popular lore born as Vangelina Pandeva Dimitrova in the Strumica area of Bulgaia.

Her superpowers (seeing the future) arrived, according to a legend, thanks to a tornado that lifted her, dashed her to the ground and leaving her blinded with dust. But while she lost her vision, she could now see THE FUTURE. Or at least she claimed she could, and because she was able to convince others about her abilities she was soon predicting the future for the rich and powerful who believed her.

When she died in 1996 at the age of 85, she had already reportedly acquired the title of being ‘the Nostradamus of the Balkans’ and had a success rate that was cited as 85 percent. (that’s more than most cricket commentators when it comes to predicting scores)

Fine, so what are we giving her credit for?

She apparently predicted the Tsunami in Japan and the Fukushima tragedy. Her followers also claim she predicted the 2001 September 11 attacks with this verse:

“Horror, horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds.

“The wolves will be howling in a bush and innocent blood will gush.”

Apparently the steel birds were the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center towers. And the wolves have something to do with (you guessed it) George Bush.

Wait, so she came up with bad rhymes that are now seen as predictions?

Totally. Baba Vanga also made some pretty crazy predictions about Europe that are now being seen as proof that someone knew Islamic State was going to be a big deal.

Baba Vanga reportedly predicted that there will be a war where Muslims would use ” chemical warfare against Europeans ” and that there would be Muslim caliphate with its headquarters in Rome by 2043. She has also said that Europe will become a ‘wasteland almost entirely devoid of any form of life’.

While almost none of this has happened yet, the fact that she was an paranoid Islamophobe (like so many others across the continent and elsewhere) is being seen as a sign that her predictions are not to be sniffed at.

But just in case you’re keen on keeping up with what she’s predicting, here’s a handy list someone put up . So here’s what to expect: we will make contact with God, we will attain immortality, but its all going to come crashing down in 5079 when the world ends. Or at least there’s a 85 percent chance that it might happen. Be prepared.
