Just recently, Dheeraj Srivastava, a resident of Shalimar Bagh, posted a shocking story on Facebook. He found a new born baby wrapped up in a garbage bag near the road of Shalimar Bagh police station.

The new born was still breathing.

When he found the child in this state, Dheeraj called up Child Helpline number 1098, in order to initiate rescue procedure.

However, the person who answered, he claims, told him that he was alone in the office and would not be able to help.

Fortunately, however, Delhi Police responded to the situation, and took the initiative of sending the new born to a nursery care.

The child is currently safe at Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh.

This is not the first time something like this has happened in our country. Whether it was 3 siblings who were found abandoned at New Delhi Railway Station or a 4 year-old boy found near a Jain Temple at Shyam Nagar, horrifying incidents like this continue to test our faith in humanity.
