Good news comes our way after Prime Minister Nardendra Modi released the ‘All India Tiger Estimation Report 2018’ which shows India now has around 3000 tigers in the country.

The PM also claimed that India is now one of the safest habitats for tigers in the world. The fourth cycle of the Tiger Census has seen a 33 percent rise in the number of tigers.

According to the latest tiger report, the population of Indian tigers has increased from 1,400 in 2014 to 2,967 in 2018. Extremely content with this development, PM Modi said,
Nine long years ago, it was decided in St. Petersburg that the target of doubling the tiger population would be 2022. We, in India, completed this target four years early.

To honour International Tiger Day, the Prime Minister released a report titled ‘Management Effectiveness and Evaluation of Tiger Reserves’ and a trailer of the movie Counting Tigers which explains in detail how the process of counting the big cats works in India.

He ended the release by saying,
The story which started from Ek Tha Tiger and reached to Tiger Zinda hai, shouldn’t end there. It should be baaghon mein bahaar hai.

This brings back hope for our wildlife.
