The Yamuna Expressway on Wednesday morning witnessed a major pile up after several cars rammed into each other due to low visibility caused by the thick smog that has engulfed the National Capital Region.

Nearly dozens of cars crashed into each other and many people were left injured in two separate incidents that took place early in the morning. No fatal injuries have been reported as of now.

A video of the supposed incident which was put up by a Twitter user has gone viral on social media.

The video shows cars ramming into each other and several injured people running for safety. It was carried by several media outlets which said that the incident is of Wednesday morning. However, there was a confusion regarding whether the incident was an old video or a recent one.

ScoopWhoop News got in touch with Sunita Singh, Superintendent of Police (Gautam Budh Nagar) who confirmed that two such incidents did take place but wasn’t sure about the authenticity of the video.

We also inquired with Jaypee Group which maintains the Yamuna Expressway.

The toll booth official also refused to confirm the authenticity of the video. “Two incidents were reported today. The first incident happened near the Mathura-Agra highway and the other took place in Greater Noida’s Dankaur area near Eastern Expressway. But we cannot ascertain that the viral video is of today,” JK Sharma, toll manager said.

He added that no serious injuries were reported.
