After the ghastly terror attack in Pulwama, people from all walks of life are coming forward to help the families of the martyred jawans.

Among them, Viveik Patel, a 26-year-old NRI residing in the US deserves a special mention.

Viveik was devastated when he got to know about the tragedy.

He wanted to help the martyrs’ families and therefore decided to contribute through Bharat ke Veer. When the portal didn’t allow contributions through international credit and debit cards, he thought of an alternative option.

He started a fundraiser on Facebook on 15 February.

Patel had just finished watching URI-The Surgical Strike on Thursday and felt a strong urge to support the families of the martyrs. Talking to Indiatimes, Viveik said:

I wanted to reach out to the maximum number of people and I think what better medium could we use than Facebook.

What started with an initial goal of USD 5,00,000 is now about to hit 1 million USD within six days.

Right now, the Facebook fundraiser has collected donations worth USD 8,65,307 which approximately translates to ₹6.15 crore.

Viveik is now trying to reach out to Indian authorities so that the collected funds can be handed over in the right hands.

If you would like to help the families of the martyred soldiers, donate here.
