You’ve probably heard of the world’s most famous anda by now. World_Record_Egg took the throne for the most liked photo on Instagram a few weeks ago with 52 million likes and counting. The earlier record holder, Kylie Jenner with her kid, has around 19 million likes.

And the brain behind this bizarre sequence of events is 29-year-old Chris Godfrey, as revealed by the New York Times.

Coed

Chris is an advertising executive based in London, and came up with the idea after finding out Kylie Jenner held the previous record. He told NY Times

“An egg has no gender, race or religion. An egg is an egg, it’s universal. Could something as universal and simple as an egg be great enough to beat that record?”

And it did. Uploaded on January 4, Godfrey’s unassuming anda broke Jenner’s record in just nine days.

It wasn’t just the work of Chris however. He also has friends Alissa Khan-Whelan, 26, and C.J. Brown, 29, to thank. And of course, the star of the show – the egg, otherwise known as Eugene.

In fact, Eugene’s popularity even landed it a spot on a Super Bowl ad that was fighting for mental health awareness.

“People have fallen in love with this egg, and Eugene the egg wants to continue to spread positive messages.”

So there you go. The mystery behind this enigmatic egg has finally been solved. Eggzelent news!
