In a shocking case of alleged medical negligence, seven children died at a government hospital in Ajmer. As protests and pressure mounted from their families, authorities agreed to probe the incident.
Five of the seven children, who died at the Jawahar Lal Nehru hospital, were newborns while two children were five years old, and were admitted two days ago with infections. The newborns, suffering from premature birth and respiratory problems were kept in ventilators but also died due to infection, NDTV reported.
The horrifying incident is similar to an incident in Odisha in August last year, where 53 infants died in 11 days due to negligence.
Meanwhile Chief Medical Officer Dr K K Soni told PTI that,
“A committee of three doctors has been formed today to probe the matter and it will submit its report to the district Collector in the evening”
