Dutch, a dog with the Eastern Command of the Indian Army passed away on 11th September. The army, today posted a tweet condoling the death of the 9-year-old.

According to a report by News18, the entire unit paid tributes to his bravery at a funeral service held especially for him.

Talking to media, one of the officers at the Army dog unit said:
“He passed away in his sleep – like a saint, a real soldier.”

Born in April 2010, Dutch was one of the most decorated dogs in the Indian Army. He had helped the Army in identifying improvised explosives in various counter-terror and counter-insurgency operations.
The brave canine was awarded with the GOC-in-C Eastern Command commendation for his bravery in 2015 and 2016.

Reports suggest that Dutch had served the Indian Army for 9 years and was about to retire next month.
After the Eastern Command of the Indian Army posted a tribute message for Dutch on Twitter, a lot of people started posting condolences for the brave canine.
