National level shooter and lawyer, Sippy Sidhu, was murdered. His bullet-riddled body was found in a park in Chandigarh on Sunday, according to an Indian Express report .

According to police sources, they were informed by a local about a dead body lying in a park in Sector 27 at around 11 pm on September 20. After verification, it was found that the dead body was that of 34-year-old Sidhu.

“His body was found at around 11 pm on Sunday night in the Sector-27 park. He was probably shot dead at around 10 15 pm His body has two or three bullet injuries,” confirmed Chandigarh SSP Sukhchain Singh Gill. It has also been reported that there were threats to Sidhu earlier as well about which he had informed the Mohali Police.

Sidhu, who has been a national level rifle shooter for more than fifteen years, won the team gold along with Abhinav Bindra in the Punjab National Games in 2001. He was also the joint secretary of the Paralympic Committee of India.

The untimely death has shocked the entire shooting fraternity across the country which expressed has grief and condolence over it. “This is very shocking and I came to know about today only. He was a young shooter,” said National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) secretary Rajiv Bhatia. London Olympic bronze medallist Gagan Narang reportedly, has left for Chandigarh from Delhi to attend Sidhu’s funeral.
