Suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kapil Mishra, who was on a hunger strike since morning, was attacked at his residence on Wednesday evening, reported Times Now.

Mishra had gone on a hunger strike this morning demanding that the Aam Aadmi Party reveal details of foreign trips made by five of its top leaders. Last week, the former minister had levelled corruption charges against Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, following which he was sacked.

The video by the channel shows Mishra being slapped by the attacker twice but he escaped unhurt. He was stopped by Mishra’s supporters who thrashed him and tore his clothes.

The attacker, identified as Ankit Bhardwaj, was caught on the premises of the leader and was handed over to the Delhi police immediately.

However after his arrest, Bhardwaj’s political affiliation has become a talking point on Twitter. Bhardwaj told the media that he was an AAP supporter though the party claims he belongs to the BJP.

BJP spokesperson Rajiv Babbar denying anything of this sort told Hindustan Times, “From the information that we have till now, he is a not a member of the party. We totally disassociate ourselves from such an act and we would like to condemn the violence.”

But many on Twitter including AAP aficionados have claimed that Bhardwaj is indeed a BJP member of Yuva Morcha
