The chiseled youth who was the face of Tonga in the Rio Olympics 2016, became an instant Twitter sensation after he walked down as part of the Parade of Nations.
When Pita Toufatofua, the Australian athlete, who was Tonga’s flagbearer, walked in the parade glistening and slick with oil, he instantly greased his way into the hearts of hundreds of women.
Pita will be seen competing in Taekwondo.
While the glistening youth enthralled audiences and drew loud cheers from the gathered crowds, he quickly became a Twitter trend, and the highlight of the ceremony. Here’s the best of Toga-tweets from Twitter:
Turkey seems awfully . . . clothed, coming after Tonga and all. #OpeningCeremony— sonia Q. verma (@sQverma) August 6, 2016
Oh I see. Everyone’s flipping out for Tonga’s flag bearer but I walk into Sizzler ONE TIME shirtless & covered in oil and they call the cops— Jeff Zentner (@jeffzentner) August 6, 2016
So, that’s where my oil went. The Tonga flag bearer has drenched his body in it. #OpeningCeremony— Ian Davis (@Dark_Blitz_2) August 6, 2016
Tonga’s flag bearer just got every woman in South America pregnant #OpeningCeremony— Dale Roots (@dale_roots) August 6, 2016
And here is a Facebook Tonga-post to end it with elan:
Well at least the slick Pita put Tonga firmly back on the world map, more importantly, on the social media map.
