The Indian embassy in Libya has secured the release of Regi Joseph, an Indian national from Kerala who had been abducted by unidentified militia from his workplace near Libya’s capital Tripoli in March this year.
External Affair minister Sushma Swaraj confirmed the news of his release in her tweet.

As per a Times of India report, Joseph, a 43-year-old IT engineer from Kozhikode in Kerela, was working on a project to create a national citizen database in Libya that the rebel forces had tried to hack a month before his abduction. He had been living in Tripoli for the last two years with his wife and two daughters.
Swaraj lauded India’s Ambassador to Libya, Azar AH Khan, for his efforts in securing the release.
