A Shiv Sena MLA from Nanded, Maharashtra clearly let power go to his head. Hemant Patil believes just because he is a lawmaker, he can do anything he wants and get away with it.

The high-handed MLA threw a tantrum on Wednesday night at Chhattrapati Shivaji Terminus In Mumbai. He inconvenienced over 2000 passengers and held up a train for almost an hour.

Why? Because he was allocated the ‘side’ berth in a second AC coach, reports Times Of India.

The Secunderabad bound train was scheduled to depart at 9.10pm, but left only at 10.06pm because the group that accompanied him kept on pulling the chain to ensure that it didn’t depart.

The tantrum meant that two other long-distance trains – the CST-Mangalore Express and the Solapur bound Siddheshwar Express were also delayed by more than 15 minutes, reports Mumbai Mirror.

Hemant Patil’s situation reportedly remained unresolved. Whether he made his peace with the ‘side’ berth or not remains a mystery.

Passengers were outraged and fumed over the MLA’s unruly behaviour.

“If a regular passenger had made such a scene, he would have been hauled off to jail. Why are elected representatives allowed to get away with such behaviour?” said one passenger to Times of India.

Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe refused to comment on the incident.

Meanwhile, General manager, Central Railway, Sunil Kumar, speaking to Times of India said he’ll initiate a probe into the incident.
