A TikTok star with over 9 lakh followers was arrested by the Mumbai police for his alleged involvement in a housebreaking case.

Receiving a complaint from the senior couple residing in Juhu on January 19, the police arrested Gupta after recognizing him through multiple videos. An officer involved in the case told the press:
We registered an FIR against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. During investigation, we scanned CCTV footage of the building where the senior citizen couple live.
He added,
The initial footage was not clear and we were unable to identify him. However, when we scanned some more CCTV footage we finally found a clear image of him. With the help of human intelligence and CCTV camera footage we arrested him from Kurla.

Despite having four to five cases pending against him, Abhimanyu Gupta had for long escaped police and was an active TikTok user, where he has amassed 9.18 lakh followers on the entertainment platform.

After his arrest on May 28, it took the police some time to recover the stolen property. But once Abhimanyu broke down and confessed, it was easy for the authorities to get back the phone and gold. Investigating officer Hari Biradar told Mid-Day:
This accused is a habitual thief and has four to five cases against him. He was produced before the court on Wednesday and has been remanded in judicial custody. We are investigating if he has committed any more crimes in our jurisdiction.

Abhimanyu Gupta was arrested under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for being a repeated offender and it is safe to say he’s going to be away from his 9 lakh odd followers for quite some time.
