PV Sindhu scripted history today when she defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara in the World Badminton Championships to not only claim her maiden gold but India’s first gold.

Teary, eyed, she accepted her title by thanking her coach and dedicating her win to her mother who’s also celebrating her birthday today.
