Bollywood actor Salman Khan was on Monday acquitted by the Rajasthan High Court in two cases related to poaching of Chinkaras in Jodhpur in 1998.
The court held that the pellets recovered from the Chinkaras were not fired from Khan’s licensed gun.
While only handful of the Twitterratti appeared to have welcomed the verdict…

Few even openly expressed their absolute displeasure with the verdict.
Acquittal of Salman by HC in black Buck case is a poor reflection on state of justice system & difficulty of bringing influential to account

Salman acquitted in blackbuck poaching case – The Indian Justice system is the best joke I’ve ever heard.
— Sahil Shah (@SahilBulla) July 25, 2016
Many drew analogy to the 2002-hit-and-run case verdict which stated that there was not even concrete evidence to sentence the star actor.
Salman the real pioneer of the self driving car that ran over people & the self firing rifle that kills chinkara! https://t.co/GQrEotebKJ

The people on the pavement got an SUV and ran over themselves and the black buck got a gun and shot itself. Life of a film star in India.

Yeah, the black buck killed itself just like the car that drove itself over pavements mowing down the homeless! https://t.co/8QMa2VhkRH

The judiciary should propound a doctrine of anticipatory acquittal especially for Salman Khan. It could save his and everyone else’s time.

Salman Khan’s Lawyer showed Judge his Tweets and pleaded Insanity. Judge acquitted him

Some even used this verdict to highlight how notoriously slow the judicial system in the country functions.
Only celebrity cases make us realise how dead slow judiciary works .it’s scary it took 20yrs for court to decide Salman khan is not guilty

Salman Khan acquitted in poaching case after 18 years.
Probably because all the victim’s friends and relatives have already died of old age.— Ramesh Srivats (@rameshsrivats) July 25, 2016
