After Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had a much sought after interaction with the students of IIT-Delhi few months ago, here is something the students of IIT-Bombay can look forward to.

Travis Kalanick, co-founder and CEO of cab aggregator Uber will interact with the students of IIT-Bombay on January 19. On his maiden trip to India, Kalanick will address the students and will share his success story.

The session is expected to see over 2,500 students, start-up enthusiasts and local entrepreneurs in attendance.

Here’s what we know about his trip so far: 

  • Kalanick’s visit to India on January 16, is a part of ‘Invest India’ campaign in which Uber will partner with Government of India’s Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. In 2015, it had announced last year that it would invest USD 1 billion to build its India business.
  • Along with over 40 CEOs and founders of start-ups, including SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son, Kalanick will interact with the students, and will guide them for “what it takes to build the world’s fastest-growing start-up”. 
  • Uber has also started a start-up mentorship programme named ‘UberExchange’ which will enable enable budding entrepreneurs and students to learn from industry leaders.
