To say that Paris is still tense would be an understatment. The city is still recovering from the terror strikes that left over 120 dead, and there was no clearer sign of it than when mourners gathered at a memorial fled in a panic after hearing sounds similar to gunshots.

This chilling video captures the panic among those who had gathered at the Place de la Republique on Sunday to pay their respects to those killed in the attacks, when they heard some popping sounds that could be mistaken for gunshots:

Police personnel quickly arrived on the scene with guns drawn only to discover that it was a false alarm. Luckily there were no major injuries reported due to people fleeing the site.

The Associated Press later reported that fireworks were the cause for the sound that sparked the panic.
