According to the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List, Reliance Industries’ Chairman Mukesh Ambani has topped the list for the richest Indian for the eighth consecutive year.

With a net worth of ₹3,80,700 crore, the 62-year-old Indian tycoon still stands above London-based Hinduja & family (ranked 2nd) and Wipro founder Azim Premji (ranked 3rd) with a wealth of ₹1,17,100 crore.

According to the IIFL Hurun list, the number of Indians having a net worth of more than ₹1000 crore has grown to 953 this year from 831 in 2018.

But after the value of the Indian currency dropped since the beginning of 2019, the number of billionaires in India in terms of US Dollars has reduced to 138 from 141.

Other people in the list include – ArcelorMittal CEO LN Mittal at #4 followed by Gautam Adani of the Adani Group at #5. 


Interestingly, the top 25 on this list account for close to 10% of the entire GDP of India.
