The BJP and Congress have clearly given the India vs Pakistan World T20 match a political battle — the Himachal Pradesh government’s refusal to provide adequate security eventually forcing the ICC to shift the match to Kolkata from Dharamsala.

A war of words has been going on for quite some time. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur has gone as far as to say that the HP government has dented the state and country’s image by not supporting the March 19 match.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that cricket is after all, a sport — that bringing politics into it doesn’t help anyone… and reminds one of Shahid Afridi’s response in March 2014 after Pakistan’s loss to India in the World T20 that year.
