The police has filed a case against a primary school teacher in the Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu for allegedly asking a Scheduled Caste student to clean up faecal matter with his hands.
The boy, a second standard student, was reportedly asked by the teacher on Friday to clean up the faeces passed by another boy. What was shocking was that the teacher told him to do it with his bare hands.The boy refused to go to school on Saturday, and told his parents about the incident.
The parents then complained to Revenue Divisional Officer and police. The police said that a case has been registered against the teacher under Section 310 of the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Act.
