Zee Network has banned famous Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam after he tweeted a video in support of Aam Aadmi Party leader and friend Kumar Vishwas. The video challenged Zee News channel’s footage showing Vishwas making an “alleged” comment related to the farmer Gajendra Singh’s suicide in New Delhi.
I am far from politics but I feel this truth should come out for the sake of my poet friend Kumar Vishwas. https://t.co/E4QWJrgg6c

However, the ace singer confirmed the ban by Zee himself on Tuesday.
So now Zee announces a ban on me. 🙂 What do I say.. God bless everyone.

Wonder should it not be illegal to ban someone on the pretext of nothing in a democracy? Influencing others to not work with an individual.
— Sonu Nigam (@sonunigam) April 28, 2015
Well legal or illegal, one thing’s for sure. Banning someone, is definitely unGodly.

Hours after his tweet, scores of Sonu Nigam’s fans took Twitter by a storm with #IStandWithSonuNigam hashtag, throwing their support behind the singer.
@sonunigam We as a country are gravitating towards bans ;). Whatever, there’s plenty of other ways of listening to you 🙂 Good luck to zee!

Music director Vishal Dadlani also came in favour of Sonu Nigam calling the ban absolutely disgraceful.
#IStandWithSonuNigam . Banning an artist of the calibre of @sonunigam for expressing a fair and justified view, is absolutely disgraceful!
