While addressing an election rally in Thiruvananthapuram, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday compared Kerala to Somalia, arguably one of the least developed nations in Africa.
The bizarre comparison was enough to spark another controversy with Kerala Chief Minister Oomen Chandy taking strong offence against Prime Minister’s remarks and claiming he had hurt the sentiments of the people of Kerala.
The comments didn’t go down well among the Malayalis on Twitter either and they were in no mood to spare Modi for his remarks. #PoMoneModi (Go Away Kid Modi) became one of the top Twitter trends with close to 30 thousand tweets of people criticising Modi.
