After Congress’ disappointing performance in the recent Delhi municipal polls, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee Chief, Ajay Maken has resigned from his post.

The latest trends show Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leading in 270 wards followed by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress.

“We have made a reasonable comeback, but I had hoped to do better in the Delhi MCD elections.

While accepting the moral responsibility of the defeat, he said,” For one year, I will not take up any post in the party, will work as a party worker.”

He also echoed AAP’s concern over tampered Electronic Voting Machines and said that the Election Commission should look into it. “While if we can’t trust EVM, we must trust EC,” he said.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had recently questioned Maken’s style of functioning. He was also criticised by senior Delhi Congress leaders over the distribution of tickets.
