A dramatic episode was witnessed in the Parliament on Monday when AIADMK MP Sasikala Pushpa broke down in the Rajya Sabha after she was sacked by the party supremo J Jayalalithaa for indulging in anti-party activities.

“I was slapped by her (Jayalalithaa) yesterday (Sunday). She harassed me. Where is women’s safety in this country?” Pushpa told the Parliament, reports The Times of India

“Will the government save me? I need protection, there is a threat to my life, ” she added, reports NDTV

It all started when Pushpa had a tiff with DMK Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Siva over the latter criticising Jayalalithaa at the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi on Saturday. Pushpa allegedly slapped Siva after he refused to travel in the same aircraft.

However, the AIADMK high command took the matter sternly and took disciplinary action against the MP.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, Pushpa told the Rajya Sabha that Siva was ‘a decent man’ and had apologised to her after the incident. But despite the matter coming to an end, she was still being pressurised to resign from the Upper House by her party.
