Janata Dal (United) lawmaker, Manorama Devi, who was absconding after an arrest warrant was issued against her in connection with recovery of liquor bottles from her house, surrendered before a Gaya court on Tuesday. She has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
“I have been wrongly framed. No liquor was ever recovered from my house. I am with the government. This is a political conspiracy against me by the BJP,” she said while being taken to court, reports India Today.
Last week, Manorama Devi, former legislative council member of the ruling JDU was suspended from the party by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar after liquor bottles were found at her house in Gaya. The police at the time Were looking for her son, Rocky Yadav, who had gone into hiding after allegedly killing a teenager for overtaking his Range Rover on May 7 .
Devi had filed an application for anticipatory bail in a court on May 13 after an arrest warrant was issued against her for violating the new prohibition law in Bihar. A court in Gaya will hear her anticipatory bail plea on May 19, reports ANI.
On May 10, her son, Rocky Yadav was arrested by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by the Gaya City Superintendent.
