His latest, Jab Harry Met Sejal, may not have made much of a business sense but Shah Rukh Khan sure has sound Economics sense. Coming in support of Goods and Services Tax (GST) in film industry, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has said it will have a positive long term effect.

“GST will help the film industry in the long term. It is a good step”, Shah Rukh told reporters to a question here last night.

The Jab Harry Met Sejal actor debunked the theory that GST has caused escalation in ticket prices.

“From figures I know, the ticket prices of Jab Harry Met Sejal haven’t risen as a result of GST,” he said.

The GST Council has decided on a two-slab structure for cinema tickets, whereby those costing less than Rs 100 would be taxed less at 18 per cent, while those above will attract a tax of 28 per cent.
