AB de Villiers must be the most hated man in West Indies! He holds the world record for the fastest ODI 50 and 100, and now he’s scored the fastest ODI 150. And all three have been against the Windies.
The latest knock – 162 not out off 66 balls – propelled South Africa to 408/5 and helped them beat the West Indies by 257 runs.
The Proteas were 146/3 in 29.4 overs when de Villiers came in to bat. Hashim Amla (65), Faf du Plessis (62) and Rilee Rossouw (61) all chipped in but this match was all about de Villiers.
261 runs were plundered in the last 20 overs.
Unless Chris Gayle fired, the Windies were never going to chase that total. But once Gayle departed for 3, it was a matter of time before the entire team succumbed. They were all out for 151. Imran Tahir finished with 5/45.
