A complacent Indian side were comprehensively beaten by Bangladesh in the first of the 3 ODIS. The hosts won the match in Mirpur by 79 runs.

Electing to bat, Bangladesh got off to a good start thanks to Tamim Iqbal (60) and Soumya Sarkar (54). Shakib Al Hasan later added 52 as Bangladesh finished with 307/10.

India started the run chase well and were 95/0 but lost the plot completely. There was no need for big shots but India did not keep their calm. Debutant Mustafizur Rahman picked up 5/50 as India were bundled for 228/10.
