It would appear that South Africa simply cannot avoid bad fortune at the World Cup.

After their first two losses and ahead of the crucial game against India on Wednesday, reports state that their bowling spearhead Dale Steyn has been ruled out of the tournament with a shoulder injury.

The Proteas have been playing without their ace pacer for their first two games, which they have lost badly to the hosts England and the tournament’s dark horses, Bangladesh. In both the games, the opposition exposed their inexperienced bowling line-up and scored in excess of 300.

The 35-year-old had gone missing from a couple of net sessions before being ruled out the second game against Bangladesh.

South Africa has named Beuran Hendricks as his replacement. It is still uncertain if Hendricks will be playing against India tomorrow.
