The India-Bangladesh T20 series was evenly poised until the very end but it was India’s young guns who mattered when it was needed the most.

Into the 3rd and penultimate game in Nagpur, India posted a fighting total of 174 thanks to KL Rahul’s impactful 52 along with Shreyas Iyer, who scored 62 runs including 5 sixes.

In return, the Indian bowling was all about one man standing up when others were not that effective. Deepak Chahar returned with the best figure for a bowler in a T20 international and that says something, isn’t it?

Deepak, having to improvise because of the dew factor, was using change of pace to add to his witty spells. Having got rid of Liton Das early, Chahar became his captain’s most successful asset in the decider.

Giving away just 2 runs and picking up 3 wickets in his first two overs, Chahar held one end of the Indian bowling, while Rohit Sharma struggled to find an option on the other.

Mohammad Naim’s powerful batting was adding to the stand-in skipper’s woes, who went into a huddle in between the overs to calm some nerves.

Just when India were feeling the pressure and it looked like the game might just slip away, the brilliance of two young guns, Shivam Dube, the other youngster who impressed the most on the night, got rid of Naim. Mushfiqur Rahim would follow with a golden duck.

Whatever remained, was Chahar’s to claim as he wiped away Bangladesh’s tail.

Chahar’s 3rd over would prove to be the end of Bangladesh’s innings. Having picked up Mahmudullah in the last ball of his second over, he sent packing the tail to claim a hattrick.

Chahar’s spell of 7 runs for 6 wickets in 3.2 overs would make it a bowling record in a T20 match, not to forget a series final.

And Twitterati was all gaga over the young lad’s performance.

Take a bow, mate! Well bowled.
